Carrier oils contain fat soluble vitamins and minerals and other nutrients. The essential fatty acids from the oils benefit our skin. The carrier oils vary in their ratio of fatty acids. Oils that contain a high amount of vitamin E help to keep the oil from going rancid and extend the shelf life. Jojoba and grapeseed oil have a long shelf life. Fractionated coconut has an indefinite shelf life. Jojoba and fractionated coconut oils are a favorite among natural perfumers.

It is important to buy oils that are cold-pressed and organic if possible. Avoid using mineral oil, as this is a petroleum product and can block pores. Store your oils out of direct sunlight, preferably in a cabinet. Some oils should be stored in the refrigerator: Rosehip oil. Borage oil, Evening Primrose, Hemp seed oil.

There are many essential oils and here are a few of my favorite: lavender, Rose de Mai, organic gardenia, tangerine, neroli, amber, bergamot, geranium, Litsea, rosemary, yuzu, jasmine, frankincense, lotus, ylang-ylang. They should always be stored in a glass container and kept out of direct sunlight.

Essential oils are the essence of a flower or plant. The rose has the highest vibration of the flowers at 320. Rose essential oil is very healing and great for dry and or mature skin. Other healing essential oils are frankincense, pink lotus, organic gardenia, jasmine, bergamot, nd ylang-ylang. Lavender kills bacteria and is good for all skin types. 

Essential oils are very concentrated, thus they must be used in small quantities and combined with a carrier oil. Never drink an essential oil unless directed by a physician. Do not use essential oils on babies or children. An adult amount is too strong for children. 

To help with anxiety add a few drops of lavender oil to a diffuser and spread throughout the house. Add a few drops to a tissue and put on your pillow at neck for a more restful sleep. To keep bugs away combine 20 drops lavender, 5 drops citronella and 3 drops eucalyptus to 2 ounces of carrier oil. If you want to make a spray, use organic Cyclomethicone in a spray bottle with the essential oils listed above.

To make an all-purpose add 3 drops lemon essential oil and tea-tree to a few ounces of warm water. Use this to clean counter tops. To eliminate mold, add tea tree oil to a diffuser. This will kill the mold and other pathogens in the air.
